Revisiting an old question

It has officially been over a year since my A Genic has molted now. They aren't very big, 2 inches, if that really, so juvenile. I don't notice any impaction. No white build up. They've not eaten in like 4 months. Which wouldn't worry me if not for this hiatus. They have a constant source of water. And the temp in the room never falls below 70. What's going on? Any ideas welcome. They have molted with me twice before. So I know they're capable when ready.

Mine did the same believe it or not. It was "roughly" 2.5 inches and took a year + to molt in temps around"74-77f". As long as they have access to water and their abdomens look plump, i wouldn't be concerned. If they've been off food for 4 months and you aren't overfeeding, id suspect they are in premolt. If so, you can slightly mist the enclosure and up the temps if possible. IME it has helped hasten the process. Expect quite a large growth spurt on this molt when it happens.

It's such a relief to hear someone else has gone through something similar. I have frantically been searching others with the same situation. I'd say their abdomen looks decent for how little they've consumed. But I'm still worried given how strange this is. I'll attach a pic of Misha. They've not kicked ANY hairs. So it's hard to tell what their abdomen is really looking like

Her abdomen looks completely fine. She looks healthy enough to make it till her next molt without eating another meal. You can offer food but dont get discouraged if she refuses /threat postures at it, she doesnt need the nourishment IMO. Keep the water bowl filled and wait it out.

I feel so much better. Thank you. Would you recommend putting a low output heat pad next to them/ not touching the enclosure for added warmth?

70f and or higher is perfectly fine. The heat pad is unnecessary and some could argue, raising the temps and "slightly" misting the enclosure could be considered "unnecessary" as well but its worked for me. I've never use heat pads ever, your Genic should be fine as long as it has water.

Okay. I will try raising the temp a bit higher just to see if that improves anything. Thank you for the peace of mind. I was freaking out for like half a year.
