I just walked into my spider room to see a small black wasp going into one of my enclosures the tarantula went berserk I got the cover off it flew out but I can't find it now could this present a problem do I have any wasps that are parasitic in the northeast that lay eggs on spiders. I'm really disgusted its just been one thing after another and its taking the joy of this great hobby out of it for me any help would be appreciated.

I am sorry to hear that. I've never had an enclosure that outside bugs could get into.

Hopefully someone has a good answer.

I'd say it's time to fix the enclosure. A bug getting in is a potential escape hole for the spider.

You're thinking of the Spider Wasp, a tropical wasp found in South America, Australia and Africa. Don't think they'd survive in the the states except maybe Florida and South East coasts and swamps.

Did the wasp attack the T?

my enclosures are fine it went thru a hole for air the only spider that could go through would be the smallest sling. this wasp was jet black about an i2 inches long as soon as it stuck its head through the hole the spider went nuts running around its enclosure. the wasp flew right at it but I ripped off the cover and it flew out and haven't seen it since.

sounds like the spider wasp. the most common are black with brown wings. If it didn't attack the spider it should be fine. they have to sting it to paralyze it then lay their eggs.
