Packed the substrate down too firmly, how can I make a few inches of the surface less compacted?

Leave it like it is for a while. They dig in very hard soil in nature. Offer them a piece of bark and see what happens.

My G. Pulchra dug all the time with my other looser substrate, but I packed my new one down too much and now it is literally rock hard on the surface.

I've got a G pulchra juvi who hasn't moved a grain of loose coir since I got her. I think she expects me to dig a burrow for her. Laziest T that I ever saw.
