Ordering a Tarantula with cold conditions

Would it not be wise to order a Tarantula right now while Temperatures are in between 25-45 degrees Fahrenheit? I don’t want to take a chance if it is not. I would venture to say that Fear Not Tarantulas might not even attempt sending in those conditions but then again I’m not sure if it would be okay or not. I would definitely be home upon the Tarantulas arrival so what do you all think?

I don't think anyone is shipping at least until Jan 7 Fear not is Jan 14th for new orders according to website. And weather is going to get colder before it warms up.

When you do order, Tanya at Fear Not is a master. She would send it to you in the cold, but it would probably have to be an overnight package with mandatory pick up at a FedEx store (She will charge extra to ship to your house, where you would have to be there to receive it.). She will pack the tarantula with a heat pack. It is a tried and true technique. Assuming you can adhere to the above, Fear Not will ship in the cold conditions and your T will arrive safely.

Lol! did someone get holiday $? I will "ditto" WolfSpider...have had Ts shipped from Fear Not at this time of year.... impeccably packed anytime and Tonya will email and tell you if she feels delay ship needed because of severe cold - she really cares about the safety of the Ts.

I ship year round. I use 72 hour uniheat heat packs and ship express. That way, just in case there is a delay with express (it is usually only a day), then I have it covered. The 72 hour covers the temperature during the delay so that I do not have to worry about those freezing temps. Tarantulas actually do better in "cool" weather more-so than they do in extreme heat. Cool weather slows their metabolism (not referring to extreme cold conditions but I will ship a tarantula in 40°f weather without a heat pack as long as the temps do not decrease). Heat kills them by dehydrating them.

I’ve just really been in the mood to increase my Tarantula collection lol. Already got one at the pet store less than a week ago. Looking to get more though lol

That’s awesome information and really good to know. Now I feel much better to order one in a week or 2
