But my best mate has just come over with a tiny G. rosea sling for me!

I've now named it "Smidge" as it's really tiny.

The only thing is...I've never had a sling before and I am really worried I won't be able to give it the best care like I do with Mystery (B auratum), who is a juvenile and Truffle (E. parvulus ) is probably semi-adult.

Thankfully I have been picking up loads of advice on here started reading from the back page when I first joined - but I am still nervous about caring for it.

I am guessing that as a sling, Smidge will need a little more moisture than it will when it's an adult. But where do you actually put the moisture, on the top of the lid, side of the tub or the actual substrate (which looks to be coir). Am I right in thinking this?

Also, regarding feeding - Can they eat cut up crickets or do you start with live fruit flies (which for the life of me I have no idea of where to get those from)? I think I read somewhere that you can cut crickets up and give a piece to the sling, but I just wanted to confirm this.

I was only given Smidge to me about 2 hours ago and have been going through the TKG and other books that I have at home, but I just want to make sure that this advice is the right way to go. I've only had Smidge for 2 hours and I am already in love with him.

Within the next few hours, I will start up a photo thread with all my tarantulas in (so I don't create 3 ignore 2 of them lol) and will keep it updated as regularly as I can.

With regards to the questions, I am grateful for any extra advice and send my thanks in advance

How big is it?
My LP was about 1cm DLS when I got it and wouldn't eat live prey no matter how small (it's started catching them after its molt). It would however eat prekilled Turkistan nymphs or 2nd instar crickets. I've heard of people feeding just the legs of bigger crickets. The sling should find it when it's hungry.
As for water, I've recently started using the tiny little plastic holders for birthday cake candles, because bottle caps were too big:
