NOOB HERE!!

Hi guys! I have been fascinated with spiders since I was a kid. I actually am quite arachnophobic but I really like tarantula's. Go figure right? I am have been doing some research because I am interested in buying my first one. I would like to see what you guys have to say about a good beginning spider for a noob like me. I will think long and hard before I commit because I do want to take this seriously. And I don't think it would be fair to the animal if I am not fully into it.

So what guides do you suggest, and what pointers for different (beginner) species for someone like me? I have been looking at the Rose Hair but it is a bit bland in appearance for me. I would like something colorful like the Red Knee. What are your thoughts?

A red knee is a good first T. You may also want to look at Grammastola pulchripes (Chaco gold knee).

Check out mikebasictarantula.com. He has a page of beginner tarantulas where I did my shopping. Go with what appeals to you. For example, I've always loved all black animals. One T he suggested is a G. pulcra which I now have. A B. smithi is on my list also, but look into the GBB.

B Smithi was my first T. Mine is such an easy going tarantula. I have had it since May and I have yet so see any kind of threat pose! I would recommend a red knee.

A Chilean Rose Hair is a good first tarantula. It was my first one. She is very calm and mellow.
