So I mentioned a couple weeks ago that I bought my first tarantula... A juvenile OBT.
Then... A few days later I bought a Lasiodora.

And since that time... my problem has become apparent. I cant stop looking at the shops website to see what T's they have... I feel like I need another one. ... and then another. Problem is my apartment is a bit too small now. So... Ive decided that at the end of this lease, I will move out of my house and then get a bigger apartment.... So that I can get more T's ....

LOL in all seriousness though. I do have a question.
OBT juvenile. I moved the water dish closer to its hide. and it filled it up with substrate and most of the water spilled and went down. Not a huge amount but noticably a stream of wetness that goes to the bottom of the substrate. Is there a problem with any moisture? Additionally in that tank i dont have Iso's but Fluffy takes all its food in to its burrow and I never see the remnants. Is this an issue as well?

Did no one warn you about the addiction? Most of us are suffering the same way, I only bought my 1st T to help me over my fear of spiders and now have 101 :).

In answer to your serious question, my little OBT has done exactly the same thing. The substrate acts as a wick, drawing the water out. I tried moving thw water bowl to the far corner but the monkey has webbed right up to it and now the web is sucking the water out. The moisture down its burrow doesn't seem to affect it and I just leave it to dry out a bit before filling the bowl again.
An OBT will generally keep everything down its burrow including moults and every so often they have a clean out and throw a bundle out for you to retrieve. They will also use bits of their moults to decorate both inside and outside of their burrows.

Just keep filling the water dish in the same spot. The overflowed water dish once a week keeps the substrate moist underneath. The spider will suck the water out of the substrate if it's that thirsty. They do this in the wild because they dont have water dishes. ;)
A little wet moss in the same area will give them another way to have a sip if needed. Congratulations on the addiction!!!:T::beer:

I over flow the water bowl for my 3" OBT in her 5 gallon cube on purpose once or twice a week. The coco coir substrate in that area always stays a little bit damp. As far as I know thus will not hurt a thing.

I live in a very dry area, so I generally keep all of my tarantulas in more damp and humid conditions than is generally recommended. I keep the arboreals well ventilated, but little slings of all species, including dry species like the Brachypelmas and GBBs, get at least a little dampness in their substrates. As they gain size, I let things stay drier more of the time. This has served me well in my area of the world. People in areas with higher ambient humidity, might not need to do this to the extent that I do it. My ambient humidity outside is in the single digits most of the year, and it seldom rains where I am.

Because the water has a tendency to follow the glass down elsewhere it may not be as wet as it looks from outside.
