I am going to start this so I can keep record of my little guy or girl (will say she until sexed) as she grows. And to share the experience with all of you. She is a little spiderling at just over a half an in. or 2 cm. she get 2-5 flightless fruit flies 3 times a week.

I had her on a shelf in my room. The shelf faced the same as my window, so it was always dark to her. I would set her on my desk during the day and put her up at night. I figured this might be why she never hid or burrowed. I moved my room around so the shelf faces the window. And within an hour she started to dig a burrow. Away from the light source. Smart little bugger.

So my little bugger kept trying places to burrow, but I think the clear container was putting her off. I pushed a corner of the substrate down a bit with my tongs, then put a strip of black Velcro tape on the outside. She dug out a way bigger area than I had made and just chills in there all day. Pretty neat to see. I don't even see any piles of dirt.

That's how i do with all my little slings. Just a short starter burrow like that. Takes a week or 2 for them to get comfy but most will start digging in that "starter" on their own. At least all mine but 1 has. I don't do the velcro through, i just turn the enclosure to face a wall or something so they're not facing whatever activity is in the room.

I tried that at first but she'd just go to different spots all over. Get about 1/3 of an inch in and stop. And this way I can move the container out to feed or just stare in there.
