How come the latest photo contest ends in October 2014? Is this forum not doing the contests anymore?

I have no idea what happened to it, it hasn't been active since before I joined the forum.
A lady called dalilahblue seems to have run it but she hasn't been on the forum since Nov 2014.
Well that's kinda lame. I was hoping to humble brag when I got my H. Pulchripes.

Be careful how much you brag, a lot of members on here have very impressive collections and even though I've been on here for coming up to a year now (I think) I still see species mentioned I'd never heard of atleast every other day ;)

I'm just really excited to get my first T's. I mean, H pulchripes, and a P murinus in the same day? This is going to be so cool, and scary at the same time. I can't wait till Thursday!

I know what you mean :) you'll find yourself looking at all the dealers almost daily then trying to justify to yourself why you should get that species then before you know it you have a huge collection :D
I'll probably wait to make sure these two survive to adulthood first. I'm pretty nervous. They're so pretty even as slings. I'd hate to be a bad T daddy.

This species is the most beautiful in my opinion. I'm also in love with the monocentropus balfouri. Which I would get as well, but I can't find one. The OBT is still priced at $20 for a sling, and $100 for the H pulchripes sling. I get the feeling like that's a steal. Am I wrong?

So wait.. Did you want to brag with cool photos, or with "being a tough guy getting two OWs as his first T on a same day"?
Brag with cool photos. I think I may be over my head getting OW's first. I wear glasses and the risk of losing my eyesight or having it negatively impacted would end my career, so I'm not sure I wanted to make the risk with urticating hairs. I can risk being bitten or having to chase one down that just up and went plaid. (Yes I make space balls reference)

I'd say just be well prepared but relax ;) and in my profile photo, that's just Caribena versicolor sling

I'm a pretty calm dude. I think I'll manage, but there is no doubt in my mind that this will be a learning experience. There is no such thing as "just a spider" in my book. It's got great coloring for being a baby. I wouldn't mind having one of those either. Arborial species, correct?

As long as you always remember what they are capable of, keep you mind on the job and always move slowly then you'll do fine.
I will never condemn anyone for buying OW as a starter as my 1st 2 were Pterinochilus murinus and Poecilotheria metallica
