Lighting question

I moved both of my Ts to my closet because it is warmer in there and nobody but me and the wife goes in there. The question is does it being dark in there all the time hurt anything? I close the door for the warmth and usually leave the light off. When I do leave the light on the wife turns it off behind me. I could get a reptile light or something if it is necessary or is being dark most of the time ok?

While taranulas are nocturnal it is important for them to have a day/night cycle just like everything else on the planet. I'm not saying expose them directly to sunlight but some natural light in the room they are kept keeps them on a normal cycle.

Thanks for the info.

I think i will get a full spectrum light to put in the closet during the day.

just leave the door open so they get some light. @timc nailed it, they need the night/day cycle to rest and recover and know when to feed etc. etc. etc. any light will give them that cycle, closet light bulb, ambient light from the nearest room/hall, whatever.

Speaking from experience (we started our collection in the closet at the top of the stairs) i would move the T's out of the closet. There's no air circulation, or not enough anyway. They'll do much better in an open room where the air is circulating.

Thanks Kormath. I never thought about air circulation. Guess they need to be out in the bedroom then. :D
