I’m figuring they don’t go in if they can’t get out?:D
You are correct. They are digging themselves in there even when they have a nice cozy web or burrow on the other side, so I assume they are happy and feeling safe there. Needless to say that it is quite useful when doing so light cleanup in the enclosure as you can keep an eye on them :)

Here is my victor, purchased from our forum’s own Casey K. This girl loves her tube. I’ve only managed one pic of the actual spider in the enclosure but with glare. If I touch anything or move too fast she’s gone, like that adolescent crush. I know I went crazy with the fake foliage, but I was excited as this was my first big spider.

My daughter’s and my first purchase, what turned out to be a female GBB—also named GBB. The webbing on the left is recent, her abdomen is faintly visible and she’s sealed herself in there so should pop out bigger and brighter next time I see her. Notice to the right on top of the webbed out log, a roaches leg. Let’s other know she’s not having any funny business.

A. bicoloratum. Got several for my decades project. They all do this. The consummate pet hole.
