Hi all. I acquired a Brazilian salmon pink bird eating tarantula (Lasiodora parahybana) on Thursday July 17 and named her Hera. She came with the terrarium. She is around 4" right not so I assume that makes her an adult? When I got her home, I found her molted skin in her burrow so she must of molted either that morning or the night before. I waited till Sunday and fed 5 crickets. She ate them with gusto but did not come out of her burrow. I haven't seen her come out yet but I know she ate them cause the burrow goes right up to the glass. I have some questions.

1. I keep my house at 75F in the summer. Is that too warm for her? Maybe that is why she hasn't come out?

2. Should I redo her terrarium and add more substrate so it is not quite so tall?

Sorry the pics are not great. It is hard to get one of her in the burrow.

Welcome!

1) The temps are fine.

2) Yes, I would add more substrate to prevent a fall.
