When you say Brachypelma smithi, you are referring to the "mexican giant redknee" vs. Brachypelma hamorii, which is the "mexican redknee". There was a revision with these two species a few years ago. Brachypelma smithi are rare but I have seen them pop up in the hobby a bit more than usual, here lately.
