The pet shop called it a 'Golden Fur' (they sold Chilean Roses for $20 and this guy was $40)
I liked her/him cuz he was super active...
Anyone know what it is?
Thanks -new to this, and ver excited by our new friend.
We got him on election day, so we named him Mr.President.
-M

It's a sub species of the rose. Pretty much just a red color phase. So yes, it is a rose, but a very pretty rose.

RCF = Red Color Form. unfortunately Grammastola (genus) Taxonomy is a mess. So G.Porteri/Rosea/Scroffs,Maule are all kind of right lol

The Rose Hair, was originally Grammostola(genus) Rosea (species) . But due to color variations it was re-classified into 3 species; Rosea (the grey version, Cala the Red version , and Spatulata Red Carapace grey body. However a few years back all three were declared false and the Rose Hair then became Grammostola Porteri. Then came sub species.. Scroffa,Maule,Rosea. Scroffa was moved to the Genus Paraphysa, and now Porteri , Rosea and I think Maule are still in Grammostolla. Personally I just go with Rosea.
Like I said Taxonomy is a pain in the but lol

Wow. It IS a pain.
So many answers!
Everyone agrees he's a Grammostola and from Chilli.
Newest sub name I got: CONCEPCION
At least it makes sense his name Mr.President... you know, so everyone can debate about his origin... :p

Yeah, Concepion is probably the most correct out of all the species available. It's basically what Cala used to be.

Some much better pics of Mr.P.
I've read about 'Concepcion's' having a characteristic of enlarged scopulae on the metatarsus.
(the legs second joint being big)
Mr.P here seems to posses that trait...
