I think my hamorii molted but...

I *think* my B. hamorii sling molted and I want to get the molt out so I can have it sexed BUT I would have to destroy part of it's burrow to get it out. So here's my question: how stressed out can a Tarantula get from having it's burrow destroyed? I want to get it out because if it is a molt I'm seeing, this would be it's first molt and I would love to find out if it's a boy or girl but if I am going to stress out the sling by trying to get it, I don't want to do it. Thank you!

Correction: It would be it's first molt with me caring for it! I'm sure it molted at some point in its life before I got it. The sling is a tiny bit bigger than 1cm

Good morning TokeHound.
Please leave your sling alone. Wait for him to get out on its own. It will very likely bring out the molt out on its own. There isn't any need to disturb it or destroy its burrow. Please be aware as well that you are a very long way from being able to sex your sling from its molt if it is 1 cm DLS, you have quite a few molts ahead before it'll be big enough to sex from a molt.
Have a great day and as exciting as it is to care for them, patience is really a virtue with Ts ;)
Cheers.

I have a place who is willing to do it for free and uses a microscope to view the sling molt. But I will wait until it pushes it's molt out of it's burrow first. Thanks.

This is awesome, you are very lucky. This said I think it’ll be more than difficult to do on a T at about 0.4 inch (1cm). Hoping the molt will be intact. As an example, here is a P. cambridgei I sexed yesterday (4 inches) with a zoom and a magnifying lens. Keep us updated please :)

I'm excited to have my T's molts sexed so I can name them instead of saying "My B. hamorii..." or "my A. avicularia" I want them to have names lol

Yay, I know things! That's cool! I am hoping all my slings are female but if they are male, I'm still keeping them :)
Male or female, bringing them to maturity is an excellent way to learn and practice your husbandry skills. You always have the option as well to trade or sell your males later on to some of the wonderful breeders we have on this forum ;)

No, these are my first Tarantulas. If they end up being males, I will still keep them. I *might* trade my H. sp. Columbia (Large) but I might not too. I got this sling for free so I couldn't turn it down but it wasn't necessarily a species I wanted. But I'm undecided. My A. avicularia and B. hamorii I'm mos def keeping!

Once they'll fully mature (if male), the T behavior will drastically change. The Ts only focus will be to get laid as it will be on borrowed time. I always feel sad to see them restless and constantly trying to find a way out of their enclosures. As much as I love them, I feel better finding them someone with a female in need. They sometimes do not make it out alive from the encounter but at least they'll die trying to fulfill their natural duty ;)
