before anyone starts in on me….. I have been extremely busy preparing to leave town for three months and have a child that needs to be taken to and from school aside from all the other things I am preparing before I go and I hadn’t really been looking closely at her and missed two weeks in a row for a feed but then when I did take a closer look before I fed her I finally noticed she webbed up her hide. To feeed her I need to move her entire enclosure so already I panicked that I had disturbed and stressed her greatly. Immediately I gave extra water the next day I also spritzed it down but this was DAYS AGO and not to mention I used a trick from a YouTuber with lots of experience and removed some webbing to see if raven would replace it and she hasn’t. However there is a LARGE difference in the size of the hole I made but I can’t see !!!! She looks to be upside down and from what I saw previously (I was sure I saw her fangs) how could she have changed it to be BIGGER in THE MIDDLE of molting and if she did I KILLED HER. Omg I’m freaking out…. I have attached a current video. As well as the FIRST picture I took of her webbed up inside her hide and I will reply with progressing photos trying to provide the ones I captured SOME glimpse of her and I am asking for any advice opinions because I have lost ALL 6 slings I bought (not all in my care I was homeless for a time) excluding her obviously but she was doing so well and I thought she was out of the woods but then I missed the beginning of a molt and now I’m heartbroken!!

Pre-molt or in the middle of molting from what you described. Leave her alone and remove any crickets! They could eat her alive during the vulnerable time after a molt.

Why do you think she’s dead? I may be missing something from your story.

Ok I have tried twice now but the video that was supposed to be in my OP isn’t loading properly there it’s a long video and a large portion of the beginning is focusing on the wrong spot anyways so I have chopped it down and will try again….. also how do I delete or edit posts/replies??? I noticed her hide was webbed AFTER moving the enclosure but BEFORE I put in any feeders. But thanks for the advice. Also without the video my post seems completely unsubstantiated but the video is what I’m going more experienced tarantula owners can see something I don’t because to me she looks upside down for DAYS.

This is what I did after watching a video on YT where he says to remove some webbing to see if they web it back up to know they’re ok…

Just because she didn’t web it back up doesn’t mean she’s dead.

I really can’t make out anything from the video. You could try making the hole bigger and lifting the cork bark to get a better video. You could also see if she moves at all while doing this.

Let us know!

Wouldn’t lifting the bark disturb her??if she’s not dead ofc…? I feel like the video she looks like a death curl you can’t see anything??? I wish I didn’t angle the cork towards the glass on the frontside as I have done. I was trying to make the inside visible from the front but it makes it hard to get a pic or video of the inside because I have to hold the phone between the glass and the opening which is only 3” of space If I had angled it towards the shorter sides of the enclosure this wouldn’t be a problem but I JUST rehoused her not long ago and the poor baby (Raven) just got things settled finally a month or two ago but I didn’t foresee all these possible issues. If someone has editing skills I give full permission to rip the vid (or I can email it) for someone to adjust settings to see her better? When I try and take photos I can do NOTHING to focus on the inside it always focuses (ollllld iPhone SE) on the webbing hole itself. What do you think would disturb her less??
A) making the hole in the web bigger and trying to get another video/better photos
B) lifting the entire cork off her possibly destroying all her webbing work outside the hide as well and possibly throwing soil on her in the process?
I’ll show you what she has done with the place to give you a better idea.

Option A would be best. Do this with a slight lift of the cork, trying not to destroying webbing.

Hi
watched the video.
Spider is the right side upin it not on its back.
There is what seems an part of exoskeleton near the entrance so probably moulted already or part of old moult(I doubt is old one as they usually kick those out in preparation for moult).
Anyway I will let it be and make sure there is water available.
2 weeks of not being out is nothing for this species. My AF always moults underground and dissappear for months. She will get out when its ready.
Even if something goes wrong with the moult there is nothing you can help with tbh.Every intervention while moulting or close to moult has ended in a bad way for me with exeption of few stuck legs that I help them cast off after some days after the spider have harden off a little and regained its strength.
Just ride it out and hopefully all the worries will be for nothing.
Regards Konstantin

I see the angle now. Also see some parts of the leg from a previous molt if I’m not mistaking!

So I want to thank you for your great advice and comforting words because it led me to trust the process as they say and this MORNINGGGGGGG… we’ll see for yourself!!! She has always been such a fast molten. This is the longest I have gone without seeing her and her last molt did not go perfectly as I had to use a wet stop to remove parts of exoskeleton from the top of her abdomen and I leave in about a week for 3 months so I was anxious about leaving her in my families care with possible issues or worse…. Dead. i am so glad. I lost alllll my slings except her whom i have raised since she was a tiny brown spoon probably a few months old at like 1cm toe to toe. I know that’s not rare I’m just saying…. You really feel maternal when you have them that small. Ok again thank you so much for everything. Meet Raven! sort of lol

Hi
its worrying raising slings for someone without experience but yours is now a good size. They are quite a sturdy spider once they put some size.
Try to worry less as with size everything slows down. She may stop eating for months even years and go underground for extended periods just make sure there is always clean water available if that happens and she/he will be fine.
Thats one of the reasons we end up with quite a few spiders in out collections.Gives us something to look /care for when some of them dissappear and we are left with pet box of dirt to look at.
I am glad your mind is at ease now
Regards Konstantin
