I'm pretty sure my "Brachypelma vagans" are hybrids and I think most in the hobby are. They have sort of half-albiceps carapaces during some instars. No, I doubt most people check their tarantulas against the descriptions and in many cases that would require the dissection of the animal in the first place.


Crossbreeding tarantulas is different from crossbreeding most other pets in that we are dealing with distinct species rather than just different breeds. A labradoodle is still just a Canis lupus familiaris. There are plenty of amazing animals available to us, so let's not risk losing them to create a Frankenspider.


[USER=41]@Scoolman[/USER] listed a lot of good reasons not to do it, but I disagree with him on one point: given the opportunity, always accept a free hybrid to keep it out of the hands of someone who might breed it.
