As the tile says, I need some help about feeding my tarantula.

I bought her last monday from a pet store. That was also the day that they had fed her. I'm a bit late, I know, but I also wanted my spider to settle a bit. I've seen people feeding their spiders. Like, I see how they grab the cricket etc. But how do I get one out of the box with like 100 crickets without them jumping out? I've already fed them some apple to keep them alive for longer. I'm not scared of crickets, but they look so....ugh I just get the creeps.....just like I have with silverfish....

So yeah, what do I do?

Also, when do I know my spider needs to be fed? Are there any signs when shes hungry?

The easiest way would be to put the cricket tub, in the fridge for a few minutes. Just to calm them down a little. Then place the cricket tub in a larger enclosure. Like that, if any do escape, they are easy to round up & return to the tub.

I find black crickets are the easiest to handle, simply because they are not as manic as brown.

Edited to add. I feed one appropriately sized cricket per week. If that is not eaten within 24 hours remove it & feed again in a weeks time. Uneaten live crickets stress out tarantulas. So always remove uneaten crickets.

I would like to add that those plastic tongs to me are the worst! I like the 8" fine tipped or 10" standard pair of metal tongs! Might not be so rough on the crickets with the fine tip. Also, Pet Smart will sell crickets at an individual basis and u want have so many to deal with.

I live in the Netherlands so PetSmart is not really an option. And they don't sell single crickets anywhere in the Netherlands.

My bad. Though those plastic tongs are terrible.lol. Should have checked your profile for I let my finger do the talking. Apologies again. Man! Even with as many spoods I got I don't think I would want a hundred at a time unless I were to try to start a colony which I at one time thought about but the Hissing roach colony and Dubia colony don't get the attention they deserve at times...ohhhh well.
