hi everyone, took some spiders from a collection and one of them was unidentified. The guy didn't really have any clue on the ones he had and the only annotation on the enclosure was "BF". He said he thought it was a blue femur. I don't think it is! any clues guys? Some OW terrestrial but not sure which so hopefully someone better informed than I can help.. Approx 1.5 to 2 inches DLS

Honestly, it looks like a pulcherimaklassi to me..I was a big fan of a guy on AB named sturmy-something, sturmy76? He was a great resource on avic care for a noob. And wasnt a ****head, on a forum full of them. He had a few of these if I remember correctly, that's the only reason I know the name, I've never had one. But anyway, it looks like it might be a sling of that sp to me..just guessing though. If I remember correctly there was some controversy about the species back then..don't remember what it was though. Sorry to be so vague Phil. You might try @Enn49 , she has a plethora of spiders I've never even heard of..

having giogled....that would fit in with the "blue femur" name he had. However, seems to also basically be the euthlus sp. blue that I have an adult of that looks nothing like it so the plot thickens....lol.

I'd been thinking along the line of the Black Femured Baboon, the Encyocratella olivacea. Mines about 1.5" dls but it's bright orange with black femurs

Mine's a Usambara but I just found this on google, a
Encyocratella olivacea Strand

So it is old world..how could you tell on a sling with a fat, bald abdomen @Phil ?
the hairs did not look NW to me so that's why I was banking on OW. terrestrial bit was easy...it was in a large web covered burrow. The guy had been feeding it large locusts so no wonder it has a a big booty. although in each of the tanks when I rescued the spiders there must have at least 10 to 20 dead locusts in each....and they stunk!!!!
They are all on a calorie controlled diet now....lol

Coremiocnemis hoggi

Aka ‘Malaysian Blue Femur’
does the hoggi consistently have the denser hairs on rear legs? mine doesn't appear to have them as hairs look uniform on all legs.

hmmmm.....looking at my pic there does seem to be darkening on the femur. may be the flesh playing tricks though as I did try to upload both photos I had taken. one with flash (used) one without....but that one would not load for some reason. on the pic without a flash, there doesn't appear to be any distinct colour change in the femur. must admit though, it's exciting looking at other suggestions and trying to get to the bottom of it.....lol
