Hi everyone,

Just wanted a bit of friendly advice and reassurance as I've not had this species long. I have a female (sub adult I guess as she's around 2.5 inches) and since I received and rehoused her (around 3 weeks ago) she's ignored her hide and sort of cocooned herself in a web burrito on top of the hide.

Now, I'm assuming this is standard pre-moult behaviour but I couldn't find any description of similar when researching, just the usual sealed burrow and other regular pre-moult activities.

Can anyone quell my over-worrying mind and confirm that me reading this as normal pre-moult behaviour is correct?

Thanks in advance all, really appreciate this place!

Yes it's normal for H. Sp columbia do make web cocoons - sometime not just because of moulting but they often make several of these around there enclosure.. A bit like making there own hides as it were.. Definitely nothing to worry about :)

Hi
Its normal behaviour. I have sub adult female.
Mine never used her hide too.
She has a web tunnel system that she occupies. She will occasionally seal a part off when near a moult and ones she is done will tear the barrier down.
Regards Konstantin
