Got this to warm scorpion at night but may use for tarantulas.

Yeah, I think the concern might be that it could get too hot as some Ts like to bask on the heat pad.

I have used similar heating pads to help heat my tarantulas, although I had put the pads on a separate piece of glass ( and put thick tape around the glass edges). I did that primarily so I could keep the pad a distance from the surface of the housing and away from the T. It made it easier to change the heat's direction, but required making sure the glass did not fall or break.

I think some pads suggest using them on glass and not plastic, I just don't know about your pad.
