first try at sexing

damn.....must have really been beginners luck with that first one. I have tried 2 more and just can't seem to get it....I will have to keep practicing...
It takes a lot of practice just to get a useable moult never mind the actual sexing of it. A tip, if you use warm soapy water let it soak for a little before attempting to unravel it and flatten it out.

I tried this on two molts but I think it failed partially because I was impatient and partly because I had a bad molt. odd question.....how soapy should the water be? I put two small drops of dishwashing liquid into 16 oz
of water. (400 mL for you metric folks...:)

Not very soapy.
Tarantulas are hydrophobic, so the soap just helps the water soak into the skin rather than run off.
