After years of consideration I’ve decided to get my first T. I’ve settled on a G. Pulchripes, although I’m tempted by C. Versicolor because of its beauty and it’s more readily available where I’m at.

Is it OK to house a sling in an enclosure that’s a size or two bigger than fit for its current size?

Thanks.

Depends. A larger tank may have too much ventilation for a sling. Young tarantulas need a little more moisture then juveniles and adults.
What size is the spider and the tank size...photos?

Yes more info is needed.

Also I think the tarantula species you mentioned would take different housing. G. pulchripes is a ground species and comes from arid areas and C. versicolor is more arboreal and is from naturally wetter areas. Still not a bad idea to keep enclosures a little more moist as Arachnoclown said. I had a 1" G. pulchripes that I mostly kept with just a water cap in the enclosure and did overflow it from time to time. Had a bit of spagnum moss in there.

If you want a remote chance of seeing it, don't go to big lol. There's a post on here about using random containers that is full of ideas.

I don’t actually have one yet. A store near me had some C. Versicolor in pill bottles and I was wondering about upgrading to a larger enclosure since the containers seemed small and I was worried about trying to get one back in if it exited.

But I’m waiting for a G. Pulchripes. Will probably order online if I can’t get one locally.

I too have learned that smaller is better especially when they are young. Less space for live prey to hide or for prekilled to be over looked.

And as juveniles, 32oz deli cups

They sometimes run out, I just guide them back in.
