A. metallica is listed as “nomen dubium” which means the original description was not detailed enough for today’s scientists. Avicularia has over 90 entries. 28 species are valid. I know that don’t help a lot. Just get your tarantula and call it Avicularia sp.

I have a chance to rescue an abandon juvenile Avicularia metallica. Is that a real species?
I know how stupid that must sound, but I’ve read that it was not accepted as a valid species either way I’m going to take it in! Just wanted some input
Avicularia metallica is often known as morph 6 or M6... Just a variation of Avicularia Avicularia... Like @menavodi has explained :) good luck with it... A lovely T to own :)

I’m going to go get it tomorrow!!!
I hate when people abandon living things
So do I.. There's no need to abandon any animal - if people reach out for help it would never get to that :(
I'm sure you will provide a lovely home for it... Whatever you house it in be sure to have plenty of cross ventilation, hides(cork) plants and a water dish and you are good to go :) xx

Thanks I appreciate the advice
I only have 10 Ts in my collection so far, so I’m open to any and all advice
I’ve got to say I’m really getting into arboreal species they are my favorite so far
Arboreal Ts are great - I must admit quite a few of my favourite Ts are arboreal species...
Avics and caribena tend to be more delicate than other species they don't do well in damp/humid conditions and need optimal airflow @Arachnoclown has posted pics on here before showing how an Avics enclosure should be ideally :)
