hope everyone is safe. Best not watch San Andreas atm then. That will really scare you.Southern Cal just had a 7.1 about 2 hours ago even stronger then the one yesterday. From what I've read there have been multiple over the last 24 hours. The san andreas fault very well could be giving way, when i was a kid they told us in school that it will eventually separate just not sure when. Pretty scary when it keeps happening, we even had a small earthquake in ohio recently, 4.0 near Cleveland. No effects this fare south but still scary, only the 2nd time in my lifetime ever hearing of it happening in ohio.
Thank god my parents wanted to go to Universal Studios in Florida and not the one in California.

Macaws rock, not only those colors...but a warning system as well. CoolThanks Phil!
These little earthquakes are WAYYYYYYY over blown. Its no big deal. If you were driving (Like I was for the one on Thursday) or walking (Like I was for the bigger one yesterday), you wouldn't even notice they were happening. No damage. The ground doesn't open up. No problems at all. They feel kind of like you are laying on a water bed and your significant other rolled over to get more comfortable. Yesterday I could hear the leaf springs on my parked Tacoma creaking and it sounded like someone was trying to open the sliding barn door that I was walking by. I stopped, looked and listened, and it was like: "Hey... we're having an earthquake..." I didn't even stop working on the task at hand, which was getting frozen foods ready for my hawk and snakes for the next day.
The cool thing was that about 2 minutes before it hit, my macaw started making unusual noises at a time when he's usually quiet. I actually walked over to check on him and make sure he was okay. It was on the walk back over to the barn that the earth began rockin' and rollin' a little bit. I thanked him for the warning with a treat afterward.
Thanks Phil!

Well... it didn't. Minor rolling was all it did. No damage of any kind.7.1 isn't little. It'll rock your world.
How close to Ridgecrest are you? I lived there as a kid. I hear there were fires and lots of damage. Yeah, a little shaking in a distant area ain't **** man. Try being in the center of one, in a bad spot. I grew up in Alaska, and lived several years in Cali. An earthquake can be horrible. The one that destroyed cities and sank a huge section of earth (now called Earthquake Park) was 8. something on the Richter scale.Well... it didn't. Minor rolling was all it did. No damage of any kind.
A little over 100 miles. How close to Ridgecrest are you?
The thing is, the Richter scale doesn't really scale correctly, apparently going from 7-8 is a monumental difference. (Just read that) The more you know...7.1 is anything but little based on what I’ve heard.
