Chilobrachys sp. "Nong Ya Blonk" Behavior

Does anyone else own one of these? There isn't a lot of information about them so I was wondering what behavior anyone has noticed?

For mine it didn't seem to move the substrate about at all, instead it lives inside it's flowerpot hide and sealed up the entrance with webbing. It will bulldoze the webs to get at food and then stitch them together again.

I don't have a Chilobrachys sp. "Nong Ya Blonk" (man, that's a fun name!), but I have a C. guangxiensis and a C. dyscolus. Both act very similarly. They are skittish, secretive, and move very fast. Both have deep moist substrate as they are obligate burrowers, and the dyscolus is usually in its burrow with just its feet poking out. My guanxiensis spent all of its time in its burrow until its latest molt. After molting on the surface, it spun itself and impressive web cave, which it hides in. I'm curious to see if/when it will burrow again.

What size is your "Nong Ya Blong" (again...awesome name).

I would say sub to pre-adult. It doesn't seem to want to make a burrow, maybe the hide I gave it is enough.

How long have you had it for? Some of my fossorial species will acclimate a bit before starting a burrow.

About a month. I was thinking of re-homing my burrowing species into deeper boxes with a better mix of substrate.

I mean, it's possible she won't dig for you (which is cool because you'll see her more). But I've found that some take their sweet time. How much substrate does she have? What are you using?

My 3" C. dyscolus has about 4" of sub (she'll be getting a rehouse soon). My C. guangxiensis, currently about 4.5-5" has about 7" or so of moist sub.

Just ecoearth for now. In a week I'm thinking of ordering a whole new line of homes for them and getting a better mix of ecoearth and vermiculite.

I think what you have her in is fine. They can make burrows without vermiculite mixed in. Some times it just takes a while before they start burrowing. If she's feeding, I wouldn't worry.

Oh yeah but I want to rehome some of them as they are in old plastic viv's.
