Hey guys
So I noticed today that my G.pulchripes has grown a huge bold spot on his abdomen and it has shrunk quite a bit. She/he is about 1 year and 9 months old. What could it be? And can someone possibly tell me the sex of my tarantula?

I dont know if im seeing it right but i think i see "boxing gloves" bulbous pedipalps....thats a sign of a mature male. If so he will not eat very well and his days r numbered unfortunately. Can u get a pic of his pedipalps? and the bald spot is from kicking hairs. Not saying im right, Im sure ull get another opinion on here soon.

How sure are you that it is 1.75yo? Just want to know. I also have a chaco and I don't think that they mature that soon. Or may be they could so I asked. :D:D:D

Seeing the thread title got me curious as to what the problem might be.
@Entity & MassExodus good observation on the palps. Spot on.
Its an adult male, hasn't developed his tibial spurs, find a girl for him.
Highly doubt his age being that young, Grammostola are a very slow growing genus at best. Even with "constant" feeding and 80+ degree temps, typically takes 3+ years, to get a male raised from sling to MM. This based on my past breeding projects with the Brachypelma genus.
Currently raising 3 slings, 1.5"+, in hopes of a male for breeding with my female. She isn't ready for breeding, >6", hoping for a sac late 2018, if all goes as planned.
FYI, all males in the Grammostola genus have tibial spurs. Once developed, time is limited. [emoji6]

Thank you all for the reply. I'm not sure what his exact age is but when I bought him about a year and nine months ago he was less than a cm long. And he is very docile and has never kicked hairs so I'm not sure what it could be.I have never ever attempted to mate 2 tarantulas....but would really love to see it.
