Brown recluse bites

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to everyone. When I was a kid, things happened with a female family member that shouldn't have happened and it kind of started a lot of really strange experimentation, one was letting myself be bit by spiders... on sensitive areas. So this was actually done on purpose. I'll leave it at that unless someone needs more information. I do have a picture of one of the incidents though. I know, kind of twisted. The thing with the brown recluse happened months ago. Image blurred with photoshop I can post original if needed.

Hello Steve,
Welcome to the forum.
The brown recluse is not a tarantula although I am sure a few people on the forum might help with responding to your question :)
I personally know that the males are the ones to worry about and if you were bitten by one I imagine you would have at least a mark left behind as souvenir. This said every bite is unique. Did you bring the spider to your doctor or to the ER and was it identified as a brown recluse?
Except for the males wandering for females (but not often in the open) as it’s name suggests it, it is not a spider you should see often, even if it is often present in basements, garage and dark corners.
Will keep an eye on this to see if more knowledgeable people can help.
Cheers.
I appreciate that... thanks for getting back to me.

I had to join up to respond. I am now healing over a brown recluse bite, spent 5 days in the hospital and almost died due to the bite. I guess I am one of the 10% that had serious issues. Two months later i have a 5 by 1 inch hole in my side and hoping it will heal soon. If you have any questions let me know.
Luckily, I saw my family doctor the next morning... it was a really awkward visit.

I haven’t personally been bit, but had a small dog get bit in her side when I was a teenager. One of the nastiest things I’ve ever seen. She survived. Last year my mom got bit. She felt the bite. It was painful and never eased up. Went to doctor and got meds, but didn’t help. She was in severe pain. Ended up in hospital and had surgery. She ended up with cellulitis and was on IV antibiotics. She had huge hole in side of her leg after surgery. She had to do wound care and had a wound vac. Was very painful when nurses changed out the dressing. My dad got a bug trap and placed under couch and ended up with several recluses on it. First night home from hospital she was on couch settling down then few minutes later felt sumin crawling on her. It was a recluse. They called pest control next day and she hasn’t sat on the couch since.

According to experts, most bites are innocuous. I feel so bad for your Mom. Why some bites produce such horror is unknown. Suffice it to say, I will not volunteer myself to test the experts!

Are you okay with the original image of the bite happening?

Here's the original image...

You allowed a brown recluse to bite you on your shaft? Are you out of your mind?! You know, I try to be open minded about all things but was this some type of sexual experimentation to see if you get the same effect as viagra or what? There is no way in hell I would allow any spider to go near my genitalia.....it does give me an idea for a tattoo, though......hmmmm......

I know... I was expecting jokes. All of this goes back to things that happened to me when I was a kid, it was a learned behavior. Luckily, there wasn't any damage.
Appreciate your sense of self awareness, but if I may inquire, even though you "asked permission" to post that pic, unobscured, what made you think that would ever be appropriate to post on a site that has kids and families frequenting it?

I know I joked about it, but if my daughter stumbled on that pic on this site on her own and showed me I'd make her leave and complain to the admins.

You may want to request your posted be edited or deleted my the mods/admins.
Just sayin
