In my experience OBTs and pokies are actually very very different when they’re put in a high stress situations. My rufilata relies entirely on her speed, which she has in spades. She don’t like-..nope sentence isn’t even finished. She’s already gone. Now, that’s not to say an OBT can’t cruise. They definitely can. Maybe not in spades but definitely diamonds. But they’re more likely to give a threat pose, which I actually would rather lol. At least they’re stationary. Now, are they scary? Not if you know what you’re doing. Is that idea hyped up in the hobby? Sure, but it’s not all hype either. They’re not, and I mean not kittens and not to be played with. These are serious animals that deserve the utmost respect, just like Poecilotheria, and every other spider for that matter. But, I digress. I’m just trying to give their different reactions to stressful stimuli.
Thank you everyone for your insights, I feel a little more confident now that as long as I’m cautious, gentle and respectful I’ll be okay.

With OBTs being threat-pose stationary I've been able to just drop a catch cup over them in place and that's that. Can't do that with a teleporter like a pokie or psalmopeus.

Evening all,
I'm interested in getting a T that's known for being a heavy webber, as I love the ascetic of a webbed enclosure.
I have a versicolor sling already, who's made a lovely start, so a terrestrial would be a nice contrast.

I know the notorious OBT can make some lovely webs, but is there anything less spicy for a newbie?
I have to agree with C. cyaneopubescens, Hapalopus sp. Colombia large, and N. incei. I would add D. diamantinensis to the list as well. They are smaller species that bears some resemblance to the GBB, and they web a whole lot. They are also quite pretty, too. :)
