Hey guys I bought a Grammostola Rosea a little over a week ago and I stumbled upon the site while looking for answers. Her name is Scarlet and she is a decent size but the store didn't know how old she was.

I've been doing constant research to make sure I'm doing everything right. She seems pretty comfortable and she eats a lot. She has had 4 crickets so far. 2 every weekend. She normally just moves from corner to corner. I know some people say I shouldn't have fed her so early on but every time I would go to nudge her into my hand she would strike at me so it made me think she was hungry and she has eaten every cricket I give her. But am I over feeding her?

Hope someone can help. Thanks guys.

You're not feeding her too early so don't worry about that. Some tarantulas just don't take to handling. I had a Rosie that was a real beast, look but don't touch kind of girl. Yours may never take to handling. Personally I don't handle any of mine unless I'm rehousing them or doing some cage maintenance.

You're not over feeding. Once she is full, she may stop eating for a while. There is no way I would try to handle our G rosea. She will throw a threat post sometimes just because I open her enclosure to give water and stay like that for 30 minutes.
