About an hour ago I found the larger of my 2 B. smithi on its back in the water bowl, there is only 1-2mm of water in it. My immediate reaction was to fish it out but it has gone straight back in although it is still upright this time. I did wonder if it had gone in to moult but I've not seen any sign of pre-moult.

This is how it is now

And a pic taken 2 days ago

I've taken most of the water out by soaking it up with kitchen towel so it can't come to any harm.

Looks much darker in the first pic

Yes it does but I wasn't sure if that was the water. It looks ok now I have taken most of the water out, I've just left enough so the bottom is wet, but it's still just sitting there in the bowl.

You do need a small water dish, a bottle cap is great, but I think it is just gong to molt. You don't always see any signs of pre molt. many of my Ts love to molt right in their water dish. They need the moisture . You may be keeping it too warm and he knows he needs the moisture. Bet he will be fine in a few hours.

Mine's a little bigger than that and I use a plastic water bottle cap. I usually try to overflow the water dish daily once I can see for sure mine is going into molt. It seems to like hanging out on the wet side before a molt.

I doubt it's too warm in here and the bowls are very shallow even the smaller ones cope although I only give the ½'' plus them. I've left enough water to just cover the bottom so it still has some if it needs it. Fingers crossed all will go well.

Those are great bowls. If you only keep them half or less full, I don't see why it wouldn't be fine. Does give him a nice moist place to lay out and molt.

I love them because they hold so little water and are hard to tip over, the slings seem happy with them too.

Just before I went to bed last night it had made its way onto the side of the bowl and this morning is up on the side of the container, no sign of moulting. Obviously I will be keeping a close eye on it over the next few days but all seems well for now.

might of just wanted a bath lol

I guess it's a water baby. It never strays very far from the bowl and spends a lot of time sitting on the edge but it is back up the side of the container now.

I guess I just panicked when it was on its back in the water but it seems fine now.
