I've only had mites once. And they crawled on the web if I remember correctly. If those aren't moving I'd say it's webbing.

Don't panic if you see a mite :) I promise you, everyone on this forum has a few mites in their enclosures. It just when the population explodes that they become a problem. A good way to find mites is to wait until dark, take a flashlight and shine it in your enclosures from different angles. If you see a few, np, but if you see a bunch, rehouse, and sterilize the tank. Don't mistake beneficial things like springtails for mites though..i once redid a whole enclosure, only to find out it was infested with..springtails..not mites. They were all thrown in my burn pile though :(

They make great cleaning crews for roach colonies ;) i'm waiting on an order of them now for mine as the stupid black beetle things just fly away whenever you open the lid on the colony.
You're talking about the lesser mealworms I assume, lol. Yeah they are pretty useless, but harmless to my roaches so far.

Dermestid Beetle larvae is what i got on a recommendation. Flesh eating beetles ;) they did a decent job, until they pupated and flew away. Now i have a few dead beetles in almost every light fixture in the house lol.
