    DIY: Tarantula Bite Kit

For those of us that keep old worlds, I've always found it prudent to have some sort of "bite kit" on hand, just in case one of the little buggers tags you. Some may say having a bite kit is overkill, but if it helps dull any pain and saves you from a trip to the hospital, then it has served...

    OBT scare

Glad you got her back in safe. I've found that the bites are a bit overstated. Sure, they are painful but the feeling passes after a few hours. Pop 2 codeine tablets and when the codeine kicks in after 20 mins the pain is pretty tolerable and you can just go about your day. Of course, better...

    OBT acting strange

Mature Male; he's pumped full of hormones and all he can think about is mating. They do go a bit crazy sometimes. Most of the things you've stated have been normal in my MMs. Although the lying on their side thing is a new one.

    Airplane Trip

Customs will probably seize any live animals. You need a permit to transport wildlife.

    Do Honduran curly hairs fast.

I'm obscenely late to this party, but yes, curly hairs do fast... sometimes for very long periods of time. Mine probably holds the record at almost 2 years without food or water and she is somehow still healthy and alive!

To what degree does Denmark breed tarantulas?

Not sure on Denmark, but I know here in the UK we have a fairly lively tarantula community, and there's plenty available to buy here due to the levels of breeders. I'm always keen to see more countries involve themselves in responsible breeding, providing it benefits the species and doesn't...

LP or A Genic enclosure question

Depends if the adult is a smaller male or larger female. I'd say it's probably ok, yes. Some might say go slightly bigger.

    GBB Sling (1.25") - Concern

Could we see a picture please? Let's hope it's not a death curl. Is it resting on it's knee joints rather than it's feet? What is the humidity in the enclosure? And does your GBB have access to fresh water? It could be a hydration issue.

    Colour variation in P. Metallica

I've noticed that many of the female P. Metallicas have variable body colours. Some are more vibrant blue, and some are a disappointing grey. What influences this? Are there localities? Lack of selective breeding to improve color? Age? Other factors?
