Since it's approaching one year, I thought I would give just a quick update. The avicularia versicolor died just last week. The other three are doing just fine. Not sure why the versicolor died. Seem to happen during a molt.
The green bottle blue just molted again, showing Amazing Blue legs for...
I understand that. What I don't understand is that they have to put the ventilations on the long sides of the cage. They could put ventilation holes on one long side and the two short sides and leave one long side clean for unobstructed viewing. And they Alternatives they could at least put a...
No problems whatsoever. The only complaint is that I don't like the ventilation holes having been drilled on both of the long sides. At least one of those should have been left for unencumbered viewing. They do it to save money because with this configuration that can be used for both arboreal...
The LP has grown the fastest and had to be moved to a bigger enclosure.
The GBB color changes are amazing as well. I'm surprised how fast the Choco has been growing.

It was in my hand. I picked it up and put it in my kids container. I also had it crawling on my shirt. If you put it on your shirt they'll crawl around for a while. They're really cool.

You can tell summer has approached in my area when the palo verde beetle has arrived. We caught our first one this evening. These things are large. Approaching four inches. They have very large mandibles but I have never been bitten.

For Memorial Day, we headed to Tuscon, Arizona and stayed at Tanque Verde Ranch. We had a great time horseback riding, fishing, mountain biking and just relaxing.
The highlight of the trip for my 4 year old son was scorpion hunting. Somehow he had seen a video of scorpion hunting on YouTube...
We took the kids to visit the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and there were a few live spider exhibits of which I took a few pictures.
In the fall they have a very large spider exhibit but now for the springtime they have a butterfly exhibit.

The versicolor was the first of the 4 Ts to molt. The molt is in its web tent. Do I need to remove it? Seems quite difficult without destroying the web.
