    Golden Knee

Would be careful giving live crickets. These may hurt the T while molting. Better maim (so it won't live long enough) or kill to be sure. T's can stay in their hole for many many weeks, but generally will come out eventually You didn't say how old/large it is. A good source for info is Tom's...

Male behaviour but no male signs (yet?)

A bit off topic but fits this forum - showing the Pampho sp. Duran which molted a week ago (assuming it is as was sold this time :-) ). Used to be a very nervous hair kicker - hopefully more calm now

Male behaviour but no male signs (yet?)

Originally thought the antinous would be even blacker - like a G. Pulchra . However, found out there are a few variations so thought nothing further of it. Now it looks more and more like a Xenesthis indeed. Not a bad thing but not what I thought to buy at the time. Thanks for showing the photos.

Male behaviour but no male signs (yet?)

Thanks for the reply, don't think it's humidity or environment as I have several similar sized pampho's, phormictopus end Xenesthis in the same size enclosure with same environment none of them exhibiting this behavior. You got me thinking about wether it is perhaps a Xenesthis after all (stilll...

Male behaviour but no male signs (yet?)

Hmm, I bought it as a sling at a reputable dealer, had my doubts as well when it turned more colorful than I expected of an antinuous. Here is a somewhat better photo. Thought it couldn't be a xenesthis as these have more spindly legs but it does look a lot like the Immanis I have - a bit more...

Male behaviour but no male signs (yet?)

Hi, my Pampho Antinuous, roughly 3 years old, DLS over 15 cm, is consistently (over a month or so) trying to escape its enclosure. He/she eats well, there are no tibial hooks and no other (pedipalp) signs. I own over 50 tarantulas for a couple of years so I do know what tibial hooks look...

Not leaving one area of tank

This is normal behaviour, especially for the T. Albo. That is the reason why most keepers expand their collection. Started with a T. Albo as well and pretty soon had a few more. You might wanna add e.g. a neoholothele incei, a dwarf species but much more lively (and faster). Anyway good to...

Post molt death - another tarantula having same issue, please advise

NQA: In one of the many Tom Moran (TomsBigSpiders) podcasts he mentioned that some insecticides have as effect that the next molt is mostly unsuccessful and ogen results in the death of the spider. This can be caused by insecticide in the substrate or by touching feeder insects after touching...

    Theraposa Stirmi

Oops - only have a small (2 inches or so) T aphosysis and only a pair of rubber gloves which will not make it to the elbow. Hope I can manage till it grows substantially (for which it should pickup it's eating habit again (probably after a molt)) Thanks for the warning.

Should he be moved to a larger enclosure?

Hi all, My Neoholethele incei gold turns out to be a male (hooked out). Actually he was on the list for a rehouse, however I' m wondering whether that will be pleasant for him (apart from having more room). He will loose his (I assume sperm)web and I doubt whether he will start anew. It's a...

My Xenesthis immanis became sluggish and died.

Glad to have this confirmed once again Anyway glad that this forum has quick, solid and friendly advice by experienced members Thanks to you as well

My Xenesthis immanis became sluggish and died.

Just moistened the black stuff near its mouth. The fibers came out with a gentle pull after waiting a few minutes. So, I think your conclusion is indeed the right one. The black stuff is likely blood mixed with substrate in which the fibers got stuck after it dried up. Good news in the sense...

My Xenesthis immanis became sluggish and died.

Thanks for your answer, I hope that's the case indeed. The only doubt I have is that the fibers seem partly ingested. I could easily lift the T from these fibers and they can not easily be dislodged using some force. I'll try again soon (and then finally discard the T's body) and let you know...

My Xenesthis immanis became sluggish and died.

Hi, thanks for confirming. So, in your opinion is this a one off case of bad luck or is it a real risk for other T's as well? I've listened to a lot of Tom morans podcasts and other reliable sources (T collective) and have never heard of this particular risk. However, i found out the hard way it...

My Xenesthis immanis became sluggish and died.

Hi all, I'm in the tarantula hobby for over a year now (NW only, about 15 T's). One of my latest additions was a Xenesthis Immanis (DLS around 8 cm). I only had for a bit more than a month. It ate quite well in the first weeks or so (crickets) and then stopped eating. So, I was actually...
