So I've been out of the T world for some time now. I ended up moving in with a roommate that refused to let me bring them, so, unfortunately, I had to get rid of them. I now, however, own my own house and am about to purchase some slings and watch my babies grow all over again.
My question...
I'm hesitant, but I do believe it's female. It's about 4.5 to 5 inches, which to me is a little big for a non mature male. It doesn't have boxing gloves but it's pedipalps look different, almost like legs. I'm not familiar with the pokie family, but i'm leading towards female.
my slings all eat 2 or 3 times a week so I don't even give them water until they are in big enough enclosures to have water bowls. Only the species that really need the humidity get water on their substrate as slings, and even then it's only half of the enclosure. My OBT hated wet soil. He...
When I had mine in my bedroom I would turn the heater on when I woke up, and when I got home from work I'd turn it off. That way it some what gives them a sense of time if you would, and i wouldn't be burning my underside at night.
Oh yeah, perfectly normal. They are pet wall rocks! As long as it's eating you're fine! As for humidity I wouldn't even worry about it. All my avics get water bowls and are kept dry.
Definitely a female lampropelma violaceopes. My 8 inch girl is in a 10 gallon upright with 6 inches of sub. They pretty much have he exact same needs as h.livium except the fact that they are arboreal. They still like to dig and are rather reclusive. Has she been eating? Do you keep a water...
Seeing as how us Canadians cannot have roaches. I've always been curious about them and have some questions. I've read they breed easy, but do they breed a lot? How long do they usually take to get from just being born to adults? I've not really found a whole lot of info on them.
I haven't even read it and I've had it for like 7 or 8 months. I pretty much use it as a buffer or something to go off of if I don't know something. But I've picked a lot of stuff up from just research and trolling a few different forums.
I got my first in November or so of last year, now I have like 30. UGH! My girlfriend told me not to get one, but now that she is no longer in the picture muahaha! I'd rather spend my money on T's anyways. At least they will stick around. :P
For one a heat mat is not a good source of heat. It can create hot spots which are not good for your T and could potentially burn them. Second they come from a humid area, it does not mean they need humidity. T's have adapted to survive in such climates. If they hadn't they would have been...
They wont always inject venom, so you may not always see it dripping from their fangs. Tarantulas only have a certain amount of venom and that is it. They do not reproduce it. So to waste it on something that can easily be killed with just their fangs would be detrimental to their survival in...
Can you tell I have 7 more to make? :P
Took me an hour to cut 7 boxes, an hour to sand them. I need to invest in a router. And now I have to put them together!
