@Phil Hi was wondering if you could tell me if my tarantula pictured could be a Brachypelma schroederi. this picture is about a fortnight after she shed. As i'm trying to find out which she is. She has never burrowed or tried to in the 15 years i've had her. She shed 4th August this year. Almost 2 years since her last shed.
@purplewoodcat hard to tell from the avatar. what size is she? the b shcroederi do not get anywhere near as large as a pulchra does so if 15 years old she had done all the growing that she will do (give or take) so if more than 5 or 6 inches max DLS I doubt will be a b schroederi. If you can either post the avatar as a full pic in the gallery or PM me it and I will have a look.
@Phil there is a full size pic in my introduction from yesterday in the Hi from Sheffield post. i had to reduce the pic so much to get it as my avatar.
@Phil I posted a bigger picture in the introduction yesterday. it's the 'Hi from Sheffield' one. also trying to figure out how to add pics to gallery. what do you measure for size for them? length of body or legs included in the measurement ?
@purplewoodcat I will try and hunt that post out. the generally accepted measure is called DLS (Diagonal Leg Span). Think about how a TV is measured. take the tip of one front leg and measure the length to the opposite diagonal rear leg. when in a natural sitting portion obviously the legs are not stretched out fully so most use the DLS measure following a moult as you can spread out the limbs....without getting tagged...LOL
edit: I am almost certain from the pic in your OP that you have a lovely Brachypelma schroederi
