It gets overshadowed by the versicolor, but I’ve always been downright enchanted by its beautiful, deep purples. It was my first tarantula, too, but being a first time keeper who got a sling as my first was… not a smart idea as a majority of my research and knowledge was geared towards much more sizable spiders and sadly the purpurea is no longer with us. But I’ve learned a lot since then and it would be a dream to get one again and see those adult colors. There was something so magical about a purple spider to me, and I notice very few people in the hobby talk about it. I’ll happily sing the praises of the purpurea any day.</blockquote>
