Young Ts don't have confidence...you put it in a giant space and it's trying to find somewhere to feel safe. When they age you can go get a huge cage for them. I just went through the same thing but I recognized my error quickly. I got a B. Baumgarteni 2" juvenile a couple weeks ago. I housed it in a sub adult enclosure.  It did all the same things you just posted.
