Hiya!

Had a question about my boehmei is it normal when you just open up that terrarium or making the lightest movements that its running around like crazy or its climbing up at the top of the terrarium too fall back down and not even kick hairs... i would love too try and handle her but dont know if its a good idea when it has this behaviour..

Note: Handling is not recommended, as they do not benefit from such things, not to mention the risk of a fall is always there. Individuals vary, I do not own a B. boehmei yet, but if I remember correctly they are known for being quite skittish. Another note: it doesn't look like there is that much substrate in the enclosure. It looks like it could be a long fall.

There is like 5 a 6cm of substrate in it, dont know if thats enough.., but otherwise it's just the terrarium thats so high in height, i didn't want too take a terrarium that was too small so i took that one because it fits perfectly for the T..

It doesn't like it's setup. Sometimes you have to put the spiders needs first. Young Ts don't have confidence...you put it in a giant space and it's trying to find somewhere to feel safe. When they age you can go get a huge cage for them. I just went through the same thing but I recognized my error quickly. I got a B. Baumgarteni 2" juvenile a couple weeks ago. I housed it in a sub adult enclosure. It did all the same things you just posted. I rehoused it into a smaller enclousure and he's calm and chill now.

I've actually never seen a Brachypelma, any sp, act that way, except for small slings. It has a hide, and plant cover, it should be making a home within its overly large home. Strange.
