You will want to clean the container out every few months or so, and you'll want to take the roaches out, and dump the rest in the trash. You're gonna dump ur substrate out too. Not to mention they'll dig under it, and they'll b harder to find. Holes are needed on top of the container for ventilation. They like it dark...especially to breed, so I suggest getting a non clear bin, or covering ur clear bin with something to make it dark.  They'll drink a lot of water gel, so u may need to buy more.  A few pieces of dog food is "ok", but you wanna buy roach chow, and feed fresh Grier n veggies once a week or so. Good luck. They're roaches.......they can survive anything, so you'll b ok, but to get em to breed, try what I wrote......oh yea, and they like it nice n warm</p></blockquote><p></p>
