My rose hair Tarantula will not stop moving. All day and most of the night
she is roaming in her terrarium. Can anyone tell me why she will not just calm down.
It feels like there is something wrong with her. She never did this before.
Really starting to get worried.. Thanks for reading....

When I bought her they said she was female. and yes I change the substrate about 3 weeks ago. And its the same stuff she's been in since she been here. Picture of housing or her??

And you believe them? I'm guessing you got it from a pet store? They're not usually the most knowledgeable people, which is why I recommend buying from an actual breeder/dealer. I'll wait for that picture.

You should listen to people who are a bit more reliable then. You came here asking us for help, so don't get mad when you don't get the exact answer you're wanting to hear. If it's pacing around nonstop, then the chances are pretty good that it's an MM. If you don't want to listen to me, then that's fine..

Pet stores generally don't specialize in keeping tarantulas. I have been keeping them for 13 years. I'm far from an expert, but it'd make sense for you to take my advice into consideration.

I was in the pet shop industry. It is not about trust, it is about a genuine lack of knowledge and/or training. Kids are thrown into the job because they are low paying jobs. Some of the employees are very knowledgeable in a particular area (i.e. tropical fish, dogs, etc.) but are expected to sell all the live animals and the supplies that go along with that. Since T's represent very little revenue for a pet shop, they usually stock them as an oddity. So, if they tell you it is a female or a male, most likely that is what is said on the paperwork from wherever it was this the T came from. So, I do not believe anyone would intentionally lie about the sex or species that one buys, it is just an honest mistake.

Due to the lack of knowledge in the pet industry on inverts, it has allowed reputable dealers to spring up locally and on-line. And for these seeking better knowledge to care for their individual invert species, the forums exist. It is okay to be skeptical and not believe everything you hear on the forums but if there is a consensus on data here, you should understand that it comes from hundreds of combined years of knowledge in keeping Tarantulas.

IMO stating something as fact. Is either truth or a lie. I can't speak for this case itself, however, I do know there has been at least 2 stores to my knowledge that have the expertise and were trying to "pawn off" MM as females with a grossly increased price.

the internet is your friend. Search before you buy. Emotions have a different agenda than your rational thought.

I know people make mistakes, and I know people lie. If I distrusted everyone i would never talk to anyone.
But i didn't need chubbs snide comments, I get enough of that from my Kid.. I was not expecting anything, I just asked a question...

I'm not gonna sugarcoat it for you. You're gonna need some thicker skin, I can't help it if you don't like the answer I'm giving you. You asked a question and you didn't get the answer you wanted. You're welcome.

Hi!
I found your pictures on the photo thread. Your Rosie is very pretty. From those photos it's hard to tell if she is a mature male or not. To help troubleshooting your worries with her activity, can you get a photo of her in her enclosure? From reading other threads, if you can post such a photo in this thread, the experienced Rosie owners will weigh in to help you figure out why her behavior has changed.

I hope everything is fine, and she is just feeling extra frisky lately!

does the pedipalp look like it has a horse hoof on the end? If answer is Yes = male
if answer is no and its not 5"+ its sub-adult.
if its over 5" and doesn't have horse hooves then with 95% accuracy congrats!

I'm being blunt with you, not snide or considing. There's a big difference bud. You asked a question and you got an answer. It may not be the answer you WANTED to hear, but it's all I can offer. Regardless of how I say it, you're going to continue to ignore my advice and remain ignorant, because it's mot what you want to hear.

You have it wrong, and I am NOT Bud.... I was not expecting anything but advise.
Just leave me alone.
YOU ARE snide and condescending to me, and I do not like it.
