My adult female T stirmi molted this morning, finally. I've been waiting and worrying a while. Can't wait to see her hardened and stretched so I can get a measurement. I've got a time lapse vid I'll post a lil later

Especially this genus.
Yea, I'm usually pretty "immune" to them, BUT when I was putting the molt together to pose it, i must've got some on my hands, them touched my neck n arms n got the itch. Weird, I never got the itches when I held her or cleaning the tank before, but her molting must've loosened more than usual. Woo boy it's bad

I mounted a molt from my stirmi, spent severl hours working with it. For two days my hands were on fire, it was painful. For the next 4 days they itched so bad I wanted chew them off.

latex gloves enough to protect?
Urticating bristles can travel up to 3mm into human skin. So, latex might not be thick enough. But, anything thicker and you just can't "feel" well enough to do anything.
I am going to give them, latex, a try next time I mount a stirmi exuvium.

And I thought bracky hairs were itchy! Thanks for this heads up. :D
