I found a L.Parahybana for sale locally and wanted to know what anyone thinks. 5 1/2-6" Male, $80 w/10 gal tank. Is this a good price? He's had for about 2 years, bought at repticon show. What is the average lifespan for a male? And, would this be a good beginner T.?

It depends on whether he's already matured. My boy matured at just over 2 years old and survived another 14 months.
They are very easy to keep, love their food and almost always in full view. Their only drawbacks are they often pounce on anything that moves so tongs are a must for maintenance and their urticating hairs can cause severe irritation although neither of mine have caused me any problems so far and I've had my female for 4 years now.

Thanks Enn! I was a little leery about getting him and then him dying within the year. I don't know how old he was when the guy bought him so I guess I'll pass on it. Thanks for the info. Matches what I've been reading. But always nice to get from people here.

They're great Ts to keep but I'd recommend getting a sling , they grow quickly, or a young juvi female

If its 5-6" you wont have it too long. It will mature soon and the time clock starts to tick away. $80 is fair but I'd trade it off as it matured or loan it to a breeder for a sack split.

That's what I figured. I'd rather get a younger one. Not into breeding so that wouldn't work. Oh well. Thanks for the info

As slings, these are the most affordable. This doesn't make them any less awesome then any other Lasiodora, just much easier to find.

Still, look at all or at least a few Lasiodora species before deciding.

LPs are an excellent choice even for a first time keeper as slings over 1" or small juveniles. (2" - 3")

Check out the market place on our forum.
