Someone made a comment recently about about boring brown Ts so I thought let's have a thread for some of them that are not so boring. I've kept it to juvi and adults as so many slings are brown until they grow.

Phlogiellus sp. Baeri - Data
full

Brachypelma albopilosum - Tinto
full

Psalmopoeus reduncus - Coffee
full

Heterothele villosella - Zengi
full

Ceratogyrus brachycephalus - Musina
full

Feel free to add your pretty brown ones.

@Kymura Thank you. She's much more placid and visible than the other Psalmopoeus that I have.

They've never seen a T stirmi, which I'm struggling to resist the urge to rescue from horrible pet shop conditions. The brown ones don't always photograph well but most are far richer and sleeker when viewed in person.

Normally I'm used to getting slings to watch them grow, little things. Believe it or not, he'll probably double in size.

Now, when to attempt feeding.... Hmmmm?

I have Dubai roaches and Earth worms in abundance and this will probably continue for the next few days!! ;)

Basically, he can eat whatever my H spinifer can eat in terms of size of feeders but because he's young he's far more active.

He perched at the one spot in the cage where it's exactly 79 degrees or so.

Strange result.

He totally 100% ignored feeders, including earthworm. I'm not worried, not sure when he last fed and the abdomen looks quite big.

Overall, very calm and shows a very strong preference for the corner. I'm glad I propped up cork bark for a good viewing angle.

The settings are rock solid and there is no condensation whatsoever.

I can't or my finger on exactly why, but I suspect this one might've been wild caught. Hopefully he'll get comfortable enough to explore the entire enclosure. I thought they had much more urticating hairs on the abdomen but stress could've caused the loss.

Still, I'm glad he chose to remain visible and not vanish from sight. Maybe real early premolt?

They can die suddenly or die in wet molts if those things aren't controlled. Unlike Rose hairs, they have a narrow range of survivable conditions.

Remember the old inaccurate caresheets for Avics that said you needed both high humidity and lots of ventilation? It turned out wrong in that case, but with these that's what you must do.

For these guys, you MUST track everything. For other spiders like Lasiodora or even Baboon spiders you just might get away with it if you don't.

Keeping them to dry is fatal.
