Tarantulas are natural excavators and they know what they're doing when it comes to that dirt. It sounds like the behavior of a T about to go into pre-molt. That's the time when they are most physically vulnerable and do not wish to be disturbed. It will come up again when it is ready to eat. Just make sure you keep its water dish full during this time. Since it's such a small sling, when it comes up again, you may want to rehouse it into a smaller deli cup with less substrate so you can keep an eye on it.</p></blockquote><p></p>
