I sent my mature male GBB off to meet a girl today. On one hand I know it is best for him. He hasn't eaten since he matured and obviously has only one thing on his mind. Plus now there is a chance I'll have some of his babies to raise up. But I still feel really bad packing him up and shipping him off. I am very stressed at the thought of him not surviving. I did a good job packing him up so he'd be as safe as possible but I cannot help but be scared for him. Also, he was my first tarantula so I really hated seeing him go. Anyway he is on his way to Alex of the YouTube channel Tarantula Haven. Alex has a pretty female for my guy to meet and hopefully make some babies. So if any of you watch Tarantula Haven videos, keep an eye out for a GBB pairing video. The male in that video will be mine.

It’s nice to have an attachment to an Mm but we’ve sent off many MMs and you do get used to it. It’s better to know he has a chance to reproduce rather than you keep hold of him and essentially watch him die. With any luck he is successful and you get a few slings in return :).
Don’t worry about the multi photos. It’s a glitch that happens. One of the mods will sort them out. :)

But do you get half the sac back from Alex?

Clones for days!

I have a MM GBB too, I just fed him today - first since his penultimate in March 2020
As much as we love our MMs I always feel in monetary value they are worthless - if you are breeding yourself and have both the male and female then you can basically fund your tarantula collection through slings you produce but any MMs we have sent off for breeding I would only hope for 3-4 slings in return.. I'm just happy to know that he is being used for what was intended and a few more of his kind are around as a result :)
That's why the females are the prized ones to have as long as you have her you can have many breeding attempts throughout her lifetime...
I wish your MM good luck @Matthew youve done the right thing sending him off :)

He made it safely to his new home. That was a stressful 24 hours. More so than I imagined. :p
They are a lot more resilient than we give them credit for. Most shipping problems revolve around overheating and dehydration, and the dreaded "shipped in premolt"

Glad your boy made it to the orgy, let's see if he can get his.job done and get out alive!
