Age is something you can forget about. Because conditions can play a big part in how a tarantula grows, we don't use age we use DLS which stands for Diagonal Leg Span so ages are irrelevant. If the T crawls onto the side of the enclosure try and get a clear picture of between the top set of book lungs (the white parts on the underside of the abdomen) that's called ventral sexing, it's not 100% accurate but a good indication, only other way to sex them is with a moult and examine the part mentioned before but the internal side from the moult.
