Hi all. How you doing.? Can I ask for a bit of help please. I'm living over in Ireland, & most tarantula's are hard to find in pet shop for sale, never mind specifically 1's. But il have a look, & if I can get my new pet I'd like to know a bit of ... before I do go ahead & collect it (him or her). I have a aquarium size Dimensions: 62 x 37 x 62 cm. It's a Boyu byg86. 86 liter of water. Nothing wrong with it, we had fish but they all died over a year & the fish pet shop were we got them had no idea why nor did any of the folk on 1 of the fish forums I joined. Before this we was able to keep gold fish for about 2 yrs, but then everyone said that was a short term. I didn't just give up on the 1st herdle I did want to know what / why they died including the plants. I love my tank it's a nice living room furniture so thought what can I use it for, & a tarantula came to into mind. I've contacted an outlet in Ireland, & they sell a few. Pink toe. Red leg, 1 Orr 2 others but when I looked online at there size & life expectancy & if it's ground or tree, I've not really said 100% that's for me.99% yes, but not totally 100% & they say an animal is for life not just Christmas. So if I get 1 it's stays forever. I had a look online at beginning level tarantula's, (I see folk put T for short, so if you don't mind me using this), & a nice picture of a Green bottle blue came up in the option of about 12 different T's. He/she looks lovely, I read about it & it said there size is about 4 - 6 inch max, 14 year life max, semi arboreal & like to be on show. Theses few things about the green bottle blue seem very good & yes 100%. My next thing is my aquarium. I was / am thinking of lowering the height (but to what size ???). I am going to use a 5mm thick polycarbonate sheet & cutting an opening in it (to get in), & put a bigger piece back over the cut out & making it escapable. I'd also use a pet / aquarium friendly silicone to secure the polycarbonate sheeting roof. This idea is ok, yes.? But what height would I put in the roof from the floor (saying tank is totally empty).? Also, if you could give us another T species that's like the 1 above, that would be great. When I see ... Clean out the T's home, do they mean all webbing aswell.? & If you don't mind me coming back looking for more help / info on the topic, that would be great also. Looking forward to your reply. Thanks a lot all. Webster. Have a good day.
