Making sure your T has a proper enclosure, with food, water, ventilation, and the right level of humidity or lack thereof provides your T with everything he needs to be happy. I have terrestrial tarantulas that don't burrow, and I have arboreals that make web tents on the substrate. I think it ultimately comes down to the preference of your particular T. I have two l.parahybanas and one loves to make elaborate tunnel systems and the other has never dug more than a small hole.
